Products can fix milky looking stamped concrete
Dear Glenn: About eight years ago, I had a stamped concrete patio and walkway installed, which is stained with a brick-red dye. This past summer, I attempted to reseal the concrete after a good power washing. A company had previously sealed it. I used Thompson's concrete sealer, following the directions on applying two coats.
Initially it looked awesome, but after several months, the finish became milky and left the appearance unattractive. What did I do wrong and how can I correct this problem? From a longtime listener, I appreciate any help you can provide to my dilemma, which I can then correct next spring.
Dear Chuck: To revive the patio, try using a product called Dad's Easy Spray Paint, Stain & Varnish Remover, www.dadseasyspray.com, to strip off the sealer. According to their website, you can find this product at your local ACE Hardware store, item number 33831. Apply a water-based acrylic sealer manufactured by Euclid Chemical, (800) 321-7628, www.euclidchemical.com. It is available at Theut Products, (586) 949-1300, www.theutproductsinc.com.
