Try floating floor over self-leveling concrete
Dear Glenn: I recently removed the carpeting in my living room with the intention of laying hardwood flooring, but discovered there was self-leveling concrete under the carpeting.
I've been told you can't lay hardwood flooring over self-leveling concrete. Is this true? If not, would you please inform me how I can complete this project without cracking or ruining the self-leveling concrete foundation during the hardwood flooring installation?
Dear Jason: I have not heard that you cannot install hardwood flooring on self-leveling concrete. What I would do is install a floating floor so it does not have any direct contact with the self-leveling concrete.
