Clean out aerator on low-flow kitchen faucet before calling plumber
Dear Glenn: I live in a 17-year-old home and have a kitchen faucet that is 3 years old. Recently, my flow seemed to decrease by about 50 percent. All of the valves are fully opened. The same thing happened in my laundry room a year or two ago, but that is not a bother. Do you have any recommendations to diagnose and fix the low flow?
Dear Paul: Before you call the plumber, remove the aerator in the spout of your kitchen faucet. It just unscrews using your fingers. Clean the debris out and replace. If this does not establish the correct flow, call a residential plumber. You could try Rooter MD, (877) 646-5445, www.rootermd.com, or Thornton & Grooms, (248) 430-0919, www.thorntonandgrooms.com.
