Air changes per hour can eliminate soot from registers
Dear Glenn: I have been in this house, which was built in 1971, for 32 years and for two or three years I get black stuff from the register up about 8 inches on the painted wall that looks like soot or something. Can you help us find out what the problem is with the soot on our painted walls or recommend a local contractor? We are on fixed income so someone reasonable would be appreciated. Thank you.
Wayne, Plymouth
Dear Wayne: Contact Flame Heating, Cooling & Electrical, (888) 234-2340, www.flamefurnace.com. Ask for a blower door test for your home. This test will determine how many air changes per hour your house has. Your condition can be corrected with the proper amount of air changes per hour. Don't wait, call now.
