Infrared thermography will find the leak around your skylights

Dear Glenn: My husband and I live in a 50-year-old home which had major renovations done by the previous owner about 35 years ago. One of those renovations included the installation of two skylights on the second floor.

Though both have been recently sealed, they continue to leak and when it pours, we have a big problem. Do you know of anyone who can replace these skylights?

Dear Pola: Before I would invest the money in replacement of the skylights, I would use infrared thermography to see where the water is coming from and if the leak can be repaired without replacing the skylights. Call John at Thermal Imaging Consultants, (586) 783-8885, www.thermalimagingconsulatant.com. Using an infrared camera, he will be able to find where the leak is coming from.
