Homearama opportunity to see a dream home

“Bringing the Dream Home.” That is the theme of Homearama 2016, put on by the Home Builder Association of Southeastern Michigan,, at Christenbury Creek in Macomb Township, a new home community being developed by Arteva Homes,

“Homearama is a recognized symbol of excellence in the housing industry, showcasing some of the most beautiful homes and communities in the area,” said Michael Stoskopf, CEO of HBA. “The event offers something for everyone. Many will come looking for the right builder or for fresh decorating and interior design ideas; and some will also be looking to buy a home. Homearama is also a great event for those who just want an entertaining experience and the opportunity to see what their dream home might one day look like.”

The eight custom-built new homes feature the latest in building trends, technology and interior design. The homes range in price from $449,000 to $749,500. They include ranch, colonial and split-level home styles.

Arteva Homes is also the builder of two of the Homearama showcase homes. Other builders, each featuring two homes, include Lassale Homes,, Sunset Homes,, and Vitale Companies,

While the price of these custom built homes may be out of range for some in Metro Detroit, visitors will still see many affordable ideas that can be incorporated into their own homes. That is a big part of the Homearama experience. Guests will also receive a Homearama Plan Book at the event featuring floor plans and other details on the homes.

Lake Michigan Credit Union,, will also be on site to get you approved and answer all your money questions. With home mortgage rates at record low levels, this might be the best time to build.

The last Homearama was held in 2014 in Oakland Township’s Pinnacle subdivision, and this is the second time the event has been featured in Macomb Township. According to Susan Adler Shanteau, vice president of communications for the HBA, Macomb Township was chosen as this year’s site because it is an up-and-coming area.

“Macomb County represents an important area of growth in terms of new housing in Southeastern Michigan, and Macomb Township is one of the areas where we had the most growth this year, and in the past couple of years,” Adler Shanteau said.

“During 2015, 1,290 single family new home permits were issued within the county. Of those, 420 were in Macomb Township,” she added.

Some of this year’s sponsors of Homearama include Gorman’s Home Furnishings & Interior Designs, Arterra Realty, LaFata Cabinets, KSI Kitchen & Bath Showroom, Fenn & Associates Inc., Lake Michigan Credit Union, the James Hardie Contractor Alliance and the Pottery Barn.

Homearama 2016 runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday and continues from Thursday, Oct. 6, through Sunday, Oct. 9. Christenbury Creek is at 49758 Card, south of 23 Mile, in Macomb Township. For information and to purchase tickets, visit or call (248) 737-4477.

I will also be making a personal appearance at the Homearama during two Sundays, Oct. 2 and Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., so can stop by and ask me your home improvement questions.
