I have a programmable thermostat, and I work 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. I was wondering how beneficial it is to reduce the temperature of my house from 66 to 60 degrees during the day and bring it back up to 66 at 5 p.m. I would like to keep my heating bills as low as possible, so I am open to any input you have here. Dear Darin: Congrats on being a new homeowner. It is beneficial to lower the thermostat when you are gone during the day.
