Several different alarms exist for water backup systems

Dear Glenn: I am on the board of a condo association and we are having a problem with the water backup system. It has been in place since 1985 and when we lose power, the system starts to leak. Our co-owners' water bills are rising to the tune of $400-$500. We can't hear the water running. Are there any backup systems that let you know when water is running through them? Maybe they have some type of alarm or whistle.

Ralph, Macomb

Dear Ralph: There are many different types of water alarms on the market. Get in touch with Warren Pipe and Supply, (586) 294-6810, www.warrenpipe.com. They have been an industry leader in plumbing for over 50 years. Ask for Brian or Mike.
