Wash, don't replace, 7-year-old vinyl siding Dear Glenn: I'm looking to revamp my vinyl siding, which has faded badly. It is only 7 years old but I'm sure it is poor quality since that's the only kind used by builders these days. Would you have any opinions on some of the new claims about spray-on coatings? I've heard this discussed on WJR a few times and was wondering if it even works, and is it durable enough. Can you give me your opinion? Dominic, New Baltimore Dear Dominic: First of all, vinyl siding that is only 7 years old is considered new siding. I would wash the siding using Nice N Easy by Alumin-Nu, (216) 791-8018, www.aluminnu.com. This will take off all the chalk that's built up making your siding look dull. I believe you will notice a big difference. If you have to paint the vinyl, my suggestion is Duration by Sherwin Williams or Aura by Benjamin Moore.
